Pray For Scotland

21 Days of Prayer – Election 2021

HOLYROOD ELECTION – 21 DAYS OF PRAYER:  DAY 20“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” [Philippians 2:9-10]

Make your Mark Boldly

Where will you put your cross?  Will it be for Jesus?  Of course, His name does not appear on the ballot paper, so how can we vote for Him?  We can vote with our lives, our attitudes and our deeds.  We take Jesus at His Word and receive Him afresh.  As we accept Him the way He is and all He stands for, He will accept us, as we are, and transform our lives.
Jesus has already taken up His cross and carried it all the way to Calvary.  Does He not call upon us to do the same?  Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” [Luke 9:23].  The Cross is where He died.  The Cross is also where we died: ‘For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God’ [Col 3:3].
Vote for Jesus.  He has indelibly made His mark, for each of our lives, on a hill far, far away. “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands”  [Isa 49:16].  Etched in the annals of history, his greatest victory burst the chains of death and hell, and new life broke forth in triumph.
‘He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love’  [Song of Songs 2:4].  Let His banner fly high over our lives as a demonstration of God’s love and sacrifice for us all.  Let His banner fly high over our nation as we unite as a body of believers, ‘As One’, witnesses to the Truth and united in the Faith.  Let it fly high over Holyrood, the seat of the Scottish Parliament, to display the Spirit of God at work in our nation crying out for righteousness and justice.
We are Christ’s representatives here on this earth.  He lives within us by His Spirit.  Let us be motivated in prayer and deed, to live as God’s ambassadors for Him.
Jesus reigns over the whole earth.  Can we carry Him in our hearts and walk with him as living testimonies?  Let your vote count.  Make your mark boldly.  Let us lift Him high in our hearts for all the world to see.
As the remaining votes are cast on Thursday, lift up the Name of Jesus over Scotland, proclaiming that He, and He alone, is King of kings, and Lord of lords!  At His Name everyknee, including those of MSP’s and First Ministers, will bow!
